LOVED my Baja--the perfect vehicle for the Western NC mountain terrain, good on gas, plus the handy back compartment for hauling a bale of hay for the garden or taking the trash to the dump--that is, until it burst into flames on I-81 coming into Syracuse last week. I was lucky to get out. Took 4 firetrucks, and literally melted into the pavement. "Nightmare" does not begin to describe it. Fire inspectors determined it was an electrical fire originating with the blower (fan) that circulates air through the vents. OMG.

I know everyone has a gas mileage story too good to believe, but I am greatly pleased and I guess that is what really matters. I live in an Alaska town 306 miles from Anchorage on paved road. If I use the cruise control and drive about 60 mph--braking as little as possible since there are not many cars--I easily average 34-37 mpg. I have a friend with a hybid that seldom beats that! I have had no trouble and the car was new (reconstruced title at 245 miles), and I now have 70,000. I think that is pretty good, but I now need rear shocks and struts I guess for my studded winter tire on the left rear had a flat place scooped out in it when I changed this last month (April).

I bought a 1998 LeSabre 4 years ago with 60K miles on it. I now have 94K. The engine has been incredibly reliable. The only expense in 4 years was the serpentine belt at $125. However I have numerous problems. After running through a car wash I have a water leak but only on the driver side floor mat and only when it rains. Tried everything to locate problem to no avail. Horn relay stuck and now use a pushbutton wired to the horns. The AC/Heater control comes and goes. Never know when it will work. Seems to do better when car is parked in shade or when we have wet or damp weather conditions. Always starts with air blowing through instrument panel and then blows though windshield vents and stays there no matter what control I select. Thinking of replacing the control but will check with my mechanic first. The car drives great and have gotten 31MPG on the highway running 70s and with AC on. Can't afford another car and would like to get this one repaired.

2009 LaCrose CXL, car rides like a dream - but the power lock on passenger front and rear door doesn't work half the time. Check engine light and traction control light comes on at least once a week. The problem as near as I can tell is the accelerator pedal sensors. As I understand it there are two sensors that must be 100 percent in unison while reading how much the pedal is depressed. When one comes a little out, the engine goes into a limp mode and the warning lights come on. The power is so little that entering a busy street is very dangerous as the car "limps in motion". Turning the car off a couple of times usually clears the problem. Also the rear tires wear on the inside very fast. I was told that the "toe" was out and to correct it a kit was required....approx $350 expense to correct the problem. All in all the car is a great car with a few problems.

I received my 1992 Honda Accord LX from my best friend like my brother sister.I received it for free,it has glue to repair the left mirror no dents and 187,000 miles on it.I put a new battery in it and got a full tune up on it in January 2012.It's May and the only problem i had with it was the alternator, and the catalytic converter just came off today.I love this car and I'm a keep going with it.It just passed the state inspection with flying colors.

Bought new in 1993, now has 330,000 miles on it. Still drives pretty well, aside from the usual stuff. Never rebuilt, hardly ever worked on. Replaced an injector, alternator, water pump + starter. AC doesn't work anymore, and passive seat-belts finally quit. Has a LARGE amount of body/frame rust. All things considered, not bad for a 20 year old car with over 300K miles. I'm pretty sure the rust will get her before the engine/drive train goes bad.

I have a 2003 2500HD 6.0 liter with just over 66K miles. The Low Oil Pressure indicator comes on the display and the "dinging" starts. I have replaced the oil sensor with an OEM one and this still occurs after driving more than five miles. When driving the oil pressure guage shows approx 15 when driving betwee 50 - 55 mph and the RPMs are between 2000-2500. If I acclerate rapidly to 65-70 and then let off the acclerator the "dinging" will stop when speed get to between 50-55 but only stops for a minute or two and then starts again. There are no oil leaks; oil is at the proper level and things check out just fine. Thoughts?

I bought a 1999 XJR with 115k miles on it but it has all the engine upgrades for the timing problems, I also replaced trans, rear end, and supercharger fluids, the car runs and rides fantastic. Only issue was a failed fuel pump, I found a good price on ebay and replaced both (there are 2 in the tank), was thinking of
replacing the oxy sensors but the are expensive and from what I've read almost never fail. I also just cleaned the maf sensor and went on a 350 mile trip and avg 23.7 mpg!! I guess using syn oil in everything really helps.

2000 L100 bought brand new. it has been a very reliable car until 196000 the transmission has started to slip.only 1 assessory belt and water hoses. very good car.

Yes, similar problems with my 2004 ES330. The acceleration hesitates, and when slowing down around 10-15 mph and not pressing gas paddle, the car jerk up the speed a little. The transmission is not functioning well. I had this problem when it was new, took to the dealership to have it examined, they said the transmission stays within the specs. Oh.. Well, over the years, I adjust my driving habits to get used to its behaviors.

I have a 2006 CTS with 95,000 miles. It has been burning through oil like crazy. Is this normal?

This is my 1st and perhaps last Subaru (not that I think it will last me forever). It is a 6-speed manual with the short-throw shifter (that is the only "extra" that the car has -- and it is factory installed). The car doesn't have 20K on it yet & already, I've had 2 clutches put in it (so this is #3) -- about 1 every 8K. Just this evening, I have lost reverse gear. I do not grind gears, I don't ride it hard, I don't rock it back & forth, I drive reasonably & responsibly.

Purchased my Escape in Sept/Oct 2009. It currently has almost 65k miles on it and I learn that the a/c compressor, condenser, and accumulator is bad. I received an estimate from Ford and they want almost $2,000 to fix.
I think this is ridiculous. They put defective parts in the car. I have a 2001 Toyota Celica with over 170k miles and the a/c is running just fine. The only thing I've replaced on the Celica is tires, a battery, windshield wipers and kept up the oil changes.

i love my honda prelude si h23 with 4 ws...it has a coolant leak, and a couple oil leaks.... i really want to keep it but im a female that is only slightly mechanically inclined.... the four wheel steering turns off and the car starts to act slightly sluggish when its really hot outside... the car is so amazing when its a cold day outside, 4ws works it runs brand new can it be the oil leaks and the coolant leak.,.... i would love to keep the car its the best car ive drivin,,,, - woman who loves her prelude???

i have a 1993 with over 200,000 miles. Everything is good except the "dome" lights don't work and the big issue - after we drive it for 40 minutes or so when it is near 80 degrees - the engine begins to cut out until it just quits. It seems to be a fuel issue but after you let it sit for about 20 minutes it starts up and is fine for awhile. I took it to the garage - didn't act up for them. any ideas?

I acquired a 1990 GT Convertible 5-speed, 25 year edition, in need of some TLC.
Work I had done> 1. Two front seats re-upholstered, New Ford Blue Convertible top, with new headliner. Front door panel map holders redone. After-market caster-camber plate and alignment. Transmission and differential service, and new headlight switch.
DIY work> Replaced all 6 shocks, new plugs, plug wires, rotor and distributor cap, flushed radiator, new thermostat, new radiator hoses, and AFE air filter.
Results: Reliable and fun to drive.

I purchased a 2006 Cobalt brand new. The car has been reliable until this year (2012). Started having problems with power steering light coming on and a "bucking" sensation. Took it to Chevy dealer and of course they couldn't get the problem to duplicate. Though they did pull off stored codes in the car indicating that the BCM (Body Control Module) was not communicating. They did NOTHING about it and sent the car back to me. 10 days later driving this car, "jerking" sensation starts again, power steering light comes on, car's speedometer went from 30 MPH down to 0, and back and forth when this jerking was happening. Car towed in yet again and mechanics could not duplicate problem, so the car came back to me. Got GM involved with this issue and what a waste of time that has been. They have not helped me in any way, not even to soak up the cost of maintenance that I find I have to put into this piece of junk. I have been put through alot of aggravation and now the car is back at the dealership. They say that again my car would not act up on them. They have indicated that again, they think it's the body control module and they will replace it - $685. I say, give me an old fashioned car without all of these computer chips and modules because when they go up, the "poor" consumer out here can't afford to get them fixed. My car has been in the shop 3 times now for the same problems. Why wouldn't GM put recall notices out about these problems and why would the dealership keep sending my car back and not fix the supposed problem in the first place?!!

2005 nissan pathfinder...total electrical system burnout 7 days after replaceing the rely switch module! What would cause this?? Truck has 102,000 miles on it and has had no major issues until now.Nissan is saying anti-freez has gotten into the transmission due to the electrical motor malfunction and it is no longer any good. The car is still in virtually good shape, but with an est.$10,000 repair bill what is a person to do!!

I have a 2004 T Bird. With 14,200 miles and started missing under acceleration. Took it to my Ford Dealer in Stockton, Ca.
It was two coils and the window washer container and they replaced them. Gave me a new Mustang to drive home. I live 65 miles away from the dealer. No charge for anything except the gas I used.
There is a Ford warranty on the 2002--2004 Thunderbirds for 100,000 miles or 10 years. The Dealer was great. Said come back if the problem recurs. No Charge just a handshake.
Cy in CA.

my audi has a check engine light on and stopped running about 2 weeks ago the oil is leaking and i want to know why it wont run anymore
-
bought my 2006 sentra with 40K on it and have run it up to 215K.
I love this car. It has always been reliable and has averaged 38 mpg over its life with me. I do alot of highway driving and it's never let me down. The only repair I've made other than routine oil changes was bearings in two wheels. front left and back left bearings were failing and needed replaced. I attribute that to some of my driving habits. lol

I bought my 02 Camry LE in 05 and it had about 52K miles on it. The previous owner had some scratches on the paint job but I made myself look past that and I'm glad I did. The car now has about 134K miles. I've replaced the brakes once, had to replace one of the catalytic converters (unfortunate that it is attached to the manifold!), had to realign the sunroof (tracking?) once, replace a tailight and license plate bulb, refinish the headlights (oxydation) just this week and my passenger's interior door handle is broken (literally). Aside from the catalytic converter, my only other MAJOR headache has been the front wheels. They're the standard 15" steel rims. I've had to replace them a few times as they are somehow getting bent and causing me to need new tires much more frequently than normal. Twice I've had blowouts after 20K miles, on 65K tires! I've had 3 alignments and the Toyota dealership that did the first two doesn't allow a warranty transfer...I now live 11 hours from that dealership and it's only been 6 months since my last alignment there. Oh, well. Oh, the very rear part of my headliner is beginning to loosen. I've been very happy with this car. Previously drove a Land Rover...take the Camry any time.

Bought my 1993 Probe SE 4 cyl 2.0 litre 16 valve 5 speed (teal blue/black cloth interior) on New Years Eve in 1995 with 27K miles and sold it in 2003 with 176K when it was still running great! Great/dependable car, with little maintenance needed throughout the years! The SE model came fairly loaded, but I added a flip up/take off sunroof that was installed by Ziebart (yes! the undercoating guys!) and they did a very clean/wonderful job! Excellent snow traction, smooth, quiet ride, sits low like a sports car, and fun to drive. This year model had some fading paint issues from Ford, so maybe you can pick up a model that had a re-spray. My only real complaint was the wheel bearings that went out at about 70K but they were covered under the extended warranty. Just maintained regular maintentance with oil changes/brakes/battery/tires, and you couldn't ask for much more dependability! Mazda engines still rocked in the early 90's! These are little rocket/thumpers and very fun to drive with a manual transmission! I would buy another one if I can find one that wasn't beat to death! You take care of this car, and it will take care of you! WARNING! Don't buy the 6 cylinder, 2.5 liter! That engine leaks antifreeze into the oil, leading to blown head gaskets or worse!
