Buick Problems
Intake Manifold Gasket May Leak Coolant or Engine Oil
The intake manifold gasket may develop and external engine oil or coolant leak. In some cases, an internal coolant leak may occur causing coolant to mix with the engine oil. Our technicians tell us that operating the engine with a coolant/oil mix can result in internal engine damage. Replacing the intake manifold gasket should correct these leaks.
Erratic Fuel Gauge Operation
The fuel level sensor in the fuel tank may fail causing erratic fuel gauge operation. Our technicians tell us that on high mileage vehicles you may wish to replace the complete fuel pump module assembly if this condition occurs.
On certain 2005 - 2007 vehicles, General Motors has provided a special service policy covering the fuel level sensor, agreeing to pay 50% of the repair cost. This coverage extends for 10 years or 120,000...
Rear Suspension Low Due to Failed Air Compressor
On vehicles equipped with rear air springs, the air compressor may fail causing the rear suspension to sit low.
Intake Manifold Gasket May Develop Engine Oil and/or Coolant Leak
The intake manifold gasket may develop external engine oil and/or coolant leak. The intake manifold will need to be removed and the gasket replaced to correct this issue.
Engine Stalling Due to Mass Air Flow/Crankshift Position Sensor Failure
The mass air flow or crankshaft position sensor may fail causing the engine to stall intermittently. Proper diagnoses will be necessary to determine the cause of any stalling condition.
Buick Recalls (Recent)
Windshield Wipers May Fail
Snow or ice buildup on the windshield or on the wiper restricts the movement of the wiper arm. The wiper arm may loosen and cause the wiper to become inoperative. If this occurs, driver visibility could be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will tighten the wiper arm nuts to correct this concern. The General Motors recall number is 12036.
Buick EnclaveGM Recalls 2010–2011 Vehicles Due to Contact Between Starter Cable and Power Steering Line
General Motors is recalling 2010–2011 DTS and Buick Lucerne models with V8 engines due to contact between the starter/alternator cable and the power steering return line. This can result in a worn power steering return line, which can cause a power steering leak, possibly resulting in a loss of power steering. This can lead to an increase in the risk of a crash and/or an engine compartment fire. Dealers will secure or reroute the necessary lines, free of charge.
Buick LucerneParking Light May Not Function as Expected
Due to a software error, the parking lights do not activate when either the parking lamps or headlamps are switched on. Inadequate lighting could reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will reprogram the body control module to correct this concern. The General Motors recall number is 12048.
Buick RegalElectronic Climate Control May Not Function Correctly
The HVAC system may stop functioning due to a software issue in the climate control module. System failure would reduce the driver's ability to command the defrost function. This can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash. To correct the problem, dealers will reprogram the electronic control module for the HVAC. The recall is expected to begin by March 11, 2011. The General Motors recall number is 11057.
Buick LaCrosseUnexpected Activation of the Anti-Skid System
The anti-skid (stabilitrak) system may have an incorrect calibration, which can cause the system not to properly detect a sensor malfunction. A malfunctioning sensor may cause the stabilitrak (ESC) to falsely activate, resulting in sudden changes in vehicle handling and deceleration. These unexpected changes in vehicle handling may cause a loss of vehicle control. Dealers will update the electronic brake control module (EBCM) software to correct this concern. The General Motors recall number is 11222.

Buick Owners' Stories
I bought a 1998 LeSabre 4 years ago with 60K miles on it. I now have 94K. The engine has been incredibly reliable. The only expense in 4 years was the serpentine belt at $125. However I have numerous problems. After running through a car wash I have a water leak but only on the driver side floor mat and only when it rains. Tried everything to locate problem to no avail. Horn relay stuck and now use a pushbutton wired to the horns. The AC/Heater control comes and goes. Never know when it will work. Seems to do better when car is parked in shade or when we have wet or damp weather conditions. Always starts with air blowing through instrument panel and then blows though windshield vents and stays there no matter what control I select. Thinking of replacing the control but will check with my mechanic first. The car drives great and have gotten 31MPG on the highway running 70s and with AC on. Can't afford another car and would like to get this one repaired.
2009 LaCrose CXL, car rides like a dream - but the power lock on passenger front and rear door doesn't work half the time. Check engine light and traction control light comes on at least once a week. The problem as near as I can tell is the accelerator pedal sensors. As I understand it there are two sensors that must be 100 percent in unison while reading how much the pedal is depressed. When one comes a little out, the engine goes into a limp mode and the warning lights come on. The power is so little that entering a busy street is very dangerous as the car "limps in motion". Turning the car off a couple of times usually clears the problem. Also the rear tires wear on the inside very fast. I was told that the "toe" was out and to correct it a kit was required....approx $350 expense to correct the problem. All in all the car is a great car with a few problems.
I recieved my 1994 buick park avenue second hand from my father.Have had isseues with the alarm not allowing the car to start for 30 minutes, air conditioner has stopped blowing cold, and an idle control sensor went bad.Besides that one of the greatest rides i have ever felt even still at 140000 miles keeping up the regular maintance is the key.
I have a 2000 Buick Lesabre Limited that had been my fathers. This car has only 41000 miles on it as dad did not drive it much. He bought it new from dealer, always garaged, always serviced per owners manual at dealer. It can be a good car when running properly, but this car's durability is worst of any car I have owned. Transmission had to be replaced at only 31000 miles, by far lowest miles of any brand vehicle I have ever owned, and GM and dealer were no help. Apparently the left rear window regulators tend to fail even though they are not used much - have seen this on friends cars. I had a 10 wk period last year when car had to be repaired 4x, mileage only 30-35000 at time. front seat heater failed shortly after I began driving car, about 23000 miles, dealer says over $400 to fix. Would not buy a Buick based on this experience.
I had to replace the passenger inner tie rod at 40,000 miles. Had to replace rack and pinion at 45,000 miles cost me $655.00 and had to change right rear wheel bearing at 55,000 miles cost me $105.00. Steering shaft makes noise and needs replacing a common factory defect.
What a poor quality car from Buick. These problems should have been recalls. What a sorry irresponsible company Buick is. We will never buy one again. I could see these repairs at 150,000 miles or so but not at these low miles. Are you listening Buick ? I didn't think so !!!
